Day 26: Money

Kristyn Mimura

1: Scripture

Matthew 6:24
“No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.”

1 Timothy 6:10
For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.

2: Connection Point

How Do You Want to Be Rich?

When I went to HIM Conference, one of the speakers said something that really stuck with me. He said that wherever/ whoever you dedicate most of your time to is the God you serve. This got me thinking about my thoughts and actions and how they reflect what I truly prioritize in my life; it got me thinking about what God I serve.

The Bible clearly states that the love of money is evil, that you can't serve money over God. Loving money doesn't mean loving to get paid or loving to get allowance at the end of the month. It means having more pleasure in the things it can provide than the things God can. We can’t value the earthly and temporary things over the spiritual, eternal things. When we do, we can fall away from God, and we lose sight of what is really important in our lives. “A rich man without God is just a poor man with money.”

So in the end, you choose how you want to be rich. Do you want to dedicate your time and effort to a god that gives nothing but temporary satisfactions or do you serve and devote yourself to a God who gives love, life, and eternal happiness?

3: Journaling / Prayer

- What is your most precious belonging? Would you be willing to get rid of it if it meant
following God?

- What God do you serve? How do your actions and thoughts reflect that?
